Os ydych chi’n angerddol am eich cymuned leol, rIf you are passionate about your local community, we need you! Only 36% of Wales’s councillors are women, despite us making up 51% of the population. Research shows that younger women, Women of Colour and Disabled women are even further underrepresented and therefore even more needed in our political system.
Mae cynghorwyr yn gwneud gwahaniaeth enfawr i ansawdd bywyd pobl leol ac i’r ffordd y caiff materion lleol eu trin. Mae angen arnom pobl o bob cefndir a pobl ac amrywiaeth o brofiadau, sy’n adlewyrchu’r cymunedau y maent yn eu gwasanaethu, i gamu ymlaen a sefyll mewn etholiad.
Nid oes angen unrhyw gymwysterau penodol na phrofiad gwaith penodol arnoch i ddod yn gynghorydd – y cyfan sydd ei angen yw eich bod yn deall eich cymuned leol a’r hyn sy’n bwysig iddi.
Rydym yn gwahodd pob menyw ledled Cymru i ymuno â’n gweithdy ar-lein am ddim, lle byddwn yn rhoi’r holl wybodaeth sydd ei hangen arnoch i ddechrau eich taith tuag at ddod yn gynghorydd. Byddwch yn dysgu beth mae cynghorwyr yn ei wneud, sut i gyflwyno eich hun ar gyfer prosesau dethol, sut i ymgyrchu, a beth i’w ddisgwyl mewn swydd etholedig.
Byddwch yn clywed yn uniongyrchol gan gynghorwyr presennol yng Nghymru am sut y gwnaethant gymryd rhan mewn gwleidyddiaeth am y tro cyntaf a sut beth fu eu profiad ers hynny, fel eich bod yn gwybod beth i’w ddisgwyl wrth i chi gychwyn ar y daith gyffrous hon.
Byddwch hefyd yn cwrdd â rhwydwaith o fenywod eraill sy’n ystyried sefyll yn etholiadau lleol Cymru yn 2027, oherwydd rydyn ni’n gryfach gyda’n gilydd.

Councillors make a huge difference to the quality of life of local people and how local issues are dealt with. We need people from all backgrounds and experiences who reflect the communities they serve to put themselves forward for election.
You don’t need any certain qualifications or work experience to become a councillor, you just need to understand your local community and what they care about.
We’re inviting all women across Wales to join our free online workshop where we will give you all the information you need to start your journey towards becoming a councillor. You’ll learn what councillors do, how to put yourself forward for selections, how to campaign, and what to expect in elected office. You’ll hear directly from current councillors in Wales about how they first got involved in politics and what their experience has been like since, so you know what to expect as you set out on this exciting journey ahead. You will also meet a network of other women considering putting themselves forward in the 2027 Welsh local elections, because we’re stronger together.
This workshop will be facilitated by former town councillor and parliamentary candidate Yvonne Murphy.
