Calling women of Edinburgh! Have you thought what it would be like to stand for elected office and represent your community? Would you like to know more about the support available from other women?

Edinburgh's Women Gather Saturday 2nd March 10-12 Edinburgh City Chambers Join us at Edinburgh City Chambers to explore getting involved in local democracy as part of a nation-wide movement of women across Scotland. Elect Her and Edinburgh Council

If you are passionate about supporting your community, we need you in politics. We need people from all backgrounds and experiences who reflect and understand local communities in Edinburgh to put themselves forward for election.

To mark International Women's Day, a group of women from all political parties and from none, who are serving their Edinburgh communities as councillors have come together to share their experiences and to give encouragement to other women at this special in person event at Edinburgh City Chambers.

Join Councillors Simita Kumar, Hal Osler, Marie-Clair Munro, Katrina Faccenda and Alys Mumford on Saturday 2nd March 10:00-12:00 to hear about their journeys to elected office.

There will be an opportunity to learn about the resources available to help women on their political journey from Elect Her. You will also be able to meet other like-minded women like yourself who are exploring their political future.

By the end of this event, you will:

  • Have stronger networks of support, including amongst a community of like-minded women at a similar stage of their political journey,

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of a councillor for and the different ways current elected representatives have entered politics, learning from current politicians’ lived experience,

  • Be able to ask a group of cross-party councillors any questions you might have about putting yourself forward,
